Kit Sawyer has been performing in the Denver music scene for the better part of a decade. Brought up listening to a mix of Motown, Jazz, Blues, and Gospel, he found early inspiration in emotionally-stirring music. Concert-goers are regularly treated to performances stemming from Sawyer’s affinity for thick, groove-based melody and expressive style. He has shared the stage with artists such as Buckstein, Ken Stringfellow, and Ron Thompson. New music and tour information can be found on Facebook and Instagram at @kitsawyermusic.
Bobby was raised around music and has been playing since before he can remember. Starting on piano, moving to guitar and then picking up a multitude of instruments after that gave him an interest in many different genres and styles of music. He plays reggae, jazz and rock but his first love is the blues. Leading several local bands through the years has allowed him to meet a very eclectic group of musicians of all ages and skill levels but he is most appreciative of his father, Steve Miller, who he attributes his love for music and performance from an early age. He is extremely excited to introduce The Bobby Miller Band to the Denver scene and would like to thank all the other members for joining on this adventure!
Steve is an eclectic musician with a love for blues and rock. Originally from the Mighty Midwest, he has lived and performed throughout America for over 50 years as a soloist and with bands playing every major musical genre. In Colorado alone, he has performed/recorded with Crosscut Saw, Blue Ice, Captain & the Red Hot Flames, Sammy Mayfield, Big Daddy, Mountain Magic, Mark & Steve, The Bobby Miller Band (previous incarnation), and many others. Steve also has opened for such bands as Charlie Musselwhite, Chris Daniels & the Kings, and Jakarta.
Classically trained and performing in competitions such as the National Guild, Steve discovered early on he could play by ear, compose music, and be a good fit in most any musical group. He also was fortunate to play other instruments and went on to play trombone in several award-winning academic ensembles, even performing with the St. Louis Symphony. But Steve’s main love has always been keyboards, and he’s very happy to bring that passion to the Bobby Miller Band. He’s also very proud of the band’s namesake and leader, Bobby Miller, who is his multi-talented son!
Steve’s influences include Jerry Lee Lewis, Jimmy McGriff, Memphis Slim, Otis Spann, Tony Monaco, Chris Stainton, Jimmy Smith, Albert Ammons, Jools Holland, Vladimir Horowitz Keith Emerson, and Jay McShann among others. Always one to stay in the pocket while thinking outside the box, Steve feels the same about the Bobby Miller Band and foresees great things ahead!
Scott, an upstate New York native, has been playing drums since the age of 15. First big gig was playing at The World Fair in New York City. Scott has played with recording artists and Grammy winning producers as well as touring with popular bands on the East Coast. Scott has continued to play while, managing a 30 year career in education as a teacher and then public school administrator. Upon retirement, he and his wife moved to Colorado to be closer to their 4 children and 2 granddaughters. With the encouragement of his oldest son, Christopher, a professional drummer and sound engineer in Boulder, Scott began sitting in at local blues jams throughout the city. This led to networking with other musicians and ultimately becoming a part of the Bobby Miller Band.
“I’m always up for a musical challenge and the Bobby Miller Band certainly gives me that opportunity. Bobby’s soulful voice with huge pipes along with his approach to music has really piqued my interest in the blues. We are going for total feel. The music we are choosing is edgy yet steeped in the blues tradition. This is a fun band!”
